In 1917 Pedro Pavone-Vaglino left his homeland in Italy’s Piamonte wine and his pioneering spirit led him to Maipo villey in Chile. In 1956, ‘Don Pedro’ and his oldest son, Felix Pavone Arbea, began making and bottling fine wines that nowadays are exported to more than 30 countries. The productive area of Santa Ema covers over 500 hectares in Maipo, Cachapoal, Casablanca and Leyda valleys and its production capacity is over over 9.5 million-litter. Santa Ema was recently named to the Wine Spectator’s list of the Top 20 of the World’s Finest Brands and ranks in the top 100 wineries of the World. Of Santa Ema’s 25 wines, 20 were rated 90-96 points by Wine Advocate and Wine Spectator.
